Am I Pregnant? : About Pregnancy Tests
How Soon Can I Find Out?
If you’re concerned you might be pregnant, it can be hard to wait to see if your period is late. Our medical-grade pregnancy tests can detect the pregnancy hormone hCG approximately 10 days after sexual intercourse. This can be even before your missed period.
Why do you have to wait 10 days after sex? The answer has to do with the way pregnancy tests work. Pregnancy tests detect the presence of hCG, or the pregnancy hormone, in your body. It takes several days for the hCG to show up on even the most sensitive tests. The earliest that the pregnancy hormone can be detected is 10 days after intercourse even though you are already pregnant. The closer you are to the day you expect your period, the more likely you will be to receive an accurate result. If you are late for your period you can expect an accurate test result.
